Christine started her career as colorist at the age of twelve experimenting with Sun-In and food coloring after watching Duran Duran videos. A brief stint in art school revealed her natural propensity for the color wheel and formulating. She headed West from New Jersey to San Francisco where, shortly after arriving, she started her formal colorist training at the now defunct Architects and Heroes Salon. She completed her formal training at the world-renowned San Francisco beauty mecca, diPietro Todd Salon and, after honing her skills, Christine was promoted to Head Colorist of their busy Mill Valley location. In order to enjoy a more relaxed and intimate experience with her clients, Christine decided to leave the big salon after 9 years to open Revery with her long-time friend, stylist Heather Fultz. In the epic summer of 2018 Christine bought out her partners to become the proprietrix of both Revery and Shavery.
She is best known for her sun-kissed & fluid balayage highlights and her rich, tonal, moving brunettes. Her style can be as graphic as the Hanna-Barbera cartoon, as vivid as a pre-Raphaelite painting or as refined as a Ralph Lauren ad. As a Colorist, Christine is most inspired by the relationship between light and shadow and how it moves and changes. She also draws from subtle tonal changes in nature as found in beach stones and feathers.
Known for her sense of humor and humility, she enjoys making people feel good and nurturing her clients' radiance.
Christa Thomas - Creative Director/Stylist/ Educator/
Christa picked up a pair of scissors at 8 years old and headed straight for her Barbie doll collection. After giving each doll their own unique haircut, she turned her attention to her brothers’ heads and began her career as a self-taught stylist.
After formal training at the Vidal Sassoon Academy in Santa Monica, Christa landed an apprenticeship at Architects and Heroes in San Francisco where she would begin to build a loyal client base who would eventually follow her to DiPietro Todd Salon.
In 2009 Christa packed up her scissors and headed for New York City to explore the fashion scene working as an editorial stylist for some of the industry’s top photographers. In between fashion shows, Christa built a loyal clientele at Cutler Salon in SoHo that she still maintains by traveling every 8 weeks to NYC.
Happy to be back in the beauty of The Bay, Christa has joined her friend and now lady boss Christine Donahue in her beauty haven, Revery Salon.
She enjoys collaborating with clients both in the salon or on location. She loves sweating the details but also appreciates the beauty in the imperfect. Like good design, good hair can be simple or complex and it can evolve from necessity or pure whimsy.
When she is not doing hair she loves to swim, sew and would like to take piano lessons again.
Ariana Alioto – Stylist/Colorist
Ariana has always had a passion for artwork and creativity, as well as a strong connection with people. In her late teens, she found an outlet which encapsulated both of those qualities in becoming a hair stylist. After starting her career in Los Angeles, including stints in Europe, she found herself back in downtown San Francisco continuing her craft as a master haircutter and colorist. After taking a hiatus to start a family she wanted to get back to her passion and she is thrilled to be a part of the team at Revery.
Nikole Stepanenko - Manager/Esthetician
Nikole grew up in her mom's salon in New Jersey where she developed a love of skin care at an early age. Moving to San Francisco in 1993, Nikole continued to work and grow in the beauty and wellness industry. A lifelong passion for well being through nutrition, yoga, meditation and skin care has given her a seemingly natural ability to share her knowledge during treatments by educating her clients to help them achieve their skincare goals, while still delivering relaxing and invigorating service. Detail oriented and meticulous, she takes the time to make sure her clients feel satisfied on every visit. As a Reiki practitioner she also utilizes healing energy to help her guests with their skin concerns. She loves to provide pampering experiences and her goal in every facial is to send the guest into a relaxed, dream-like state, leaving their stress behind and their skin feeling rejuvenated. She was able to hone her craft working at Burke Williams and International Orange in San Francisco. She uses only organic and clean skincare lines that are responsibly sourced. CA Permit #Z106584
