Christine Donahue – Owner/Colorist
Christine started her career as colorist at the age of twelve experimenting with Sun-In and food coloring after watching Duran Duran videos. A brief stint in art school revealed her natural propensity for the color wheel and formulating. She headed West from New Jersey to San Francisco where, shortly after arriving, she started her formal colorist training at the now defunct Architects and Heroes Salon. She completed her formal training at the world-renowned San Francisco beauty mecca, diPietro Todd Salon and, after honing her skills, Christine was promoted to Head Colorist of their busy Mill Valley location. In order to enjoy a more relaxed and intimate experience with her clients, Christine decided to leave the big salon after 9 years to open Revery with her long-time friend, stylist Heather Fultz. In the epic summer of 2018 Christine bought out her partners to become the proprietrix of both Revery and Shavery.
She is best known for her sun-kissed & fluid balayage highlights and her rich, tonal, moving brunettes. Her style can be as graphic as the Hanna-Barbera cartoon, as vivid as a pre-Raphaelite painting or as refined as a Ralph Lauren ad. As a Colorist, Christine is most inspired by the relationship between light and shadow and how it moves and changes. She also draws from subtle tonal changes in nature as found in beach stones and feathers.
Known for her sense of humor and humility, she enjoys making people feel good and nurturing her clients' radiance.
